Landfill leachate occurs on landfills due to
- Degradation processes of the landfilled waste
- Waste with high water content
- Precipitation water that was contaminated in the landfill body
The leachate is collected with a special drainage system and cleaned using a landfill leachate treatment plant.
This landfill leachate is highly contaminated with pollutants and must be cleaned according to legal requirements.
